What was
most valuable about the Great Northwest Day at the Capitol?
- We get to see what the other communities have to offer, plus what they are doing to develop new ideas. It also creates a sense of competition which is
stimulating.
- One on one time with legislators from other areas around the state.
- Opportunity to meet legislators from outside NW Missouri.

- Interaction with the legislators and communities to further emphasize the importance of regionalization to the economic vitality and quality of live of our region.
- The coming together of Northwest Missouri Communities to promote our area.
- Reception
- I enjoyed the Mardi Gras event as a way to learn about issues and opportunities throughout NW Missouri.
- The speakers at the dinner, discussing the transportation issues & the socializing at the Mardi Gras event.
- The meetings with the legislators in their offices.
- The evening event was well done. I am new to Missouri and it was a great introduction to the capitol.
- The chance to meet and talk with people from around our region along with the legislators.
- Getting to meet with the legislators and talk about the issues.
- Focusing on 2 issues instead of several.
- Networking and opportunities to meet others from northwest MO.
- The evening event that invites elected officials, staff and department liaisons is very important if attended. It also appears to be working. Good job.
- Increased awareness of needs of NW MO.
- Visiting the legislators.
- The impact made to legislators and department directors with the "regional" clout.
- Heightening legislative awareness of area needs.
- Show of support from this part of the state.
- I think putting an item with Great NW logo on the desks in the Chambers is valuable. The time we had in the morning to visit with our legislators and invite
them to the evening event with my Marceline group went over very positive for all of us.
- Having time to visit with colleagues about
our community issues and related opportunities.

- The time
we were allowed to meet with our area state economic developer.
- It was a
fun day besides accomplishing the goals of networking with
legislators. Several of our community members who went this year
plan to attend next year, largely because it was so enjoyable.
Hats off to the planners for the great agenda.
- Legislator
interaction, the presentations by Mr. Rahn and the economic
development individual.
- Opportunity
to not only visit with legislators but for the communities to
interact with each other is invaluable.
- Showing of
solidarity of many communities regarding common issues and meeting
with elected officials.
- Networking
with other attendees and legislators. Attending hearings important
to me.
- The most
valuable part is the opportunity to discuss local and regional
issues with legislators and other leaders from the region. The
nuggets of info I receive from other communities is just as vital
as from the legislators. I would like more built-in time for
getting to know these Great Northwesterners!
- For
legislators to understand that we are interested in northwest
Missouri as a whole and that we can join together and work
effectively for a common cause.
- Opportunity
to meet with legislators.
- The small dinner with the legislators really set the right tone.
- I think it was all worthwhile except the breakfast. Most of our participants wanted to return home rather than stay overnight. The gifts to the legislators were
greatly appreciated and all those who attended the evening Mardi Gras event said it was the highlight of their activities.
- The evening event.
- Networking with other communities; Common, consolidated, cooperative voice to the Legislature and State Departments.
- Meeting with legislators, and having them understand your projects and concerns. Getting to meet representatives, and them now knowing who you are,
as well as where you are from.
- Visiting with legislators from out of our area to make them aware of what we have to offer.
- Networking with others in like communities.
- Once a year it makes an impact on those at the Capitol for many people from northwest Missouri to become lobbyists for a day for our region. It is
significant that we are friendly and supportive of each other as we do have limited resources and population and often vie for assistance and acknowledgement.
Having opportunity to unite on regional issues is very valuable. I hope we will have leadership who realize the value of inclusive actions and will work to continue
to make Great Northwest Day of great value to our region and our legislators. Thank you for asking everyone to participate in this survey.
- Mingling with other communities and our Senators and Representatives.
- Community interaction
- The evening event and community booths, which provide a great networking opportunity.
- Networking among communities.
- The time with MO legislators is great. The unified message of NW MO is wonderful and appreciated by the legislators.
- Two things 1) The interaction between the different communities. 2) The awareness the event brings NW Missouri.
